Manila: LTO Condemns Slay of Registration Section Chief

MANILA - The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Saturday condemned the killing of one of its officials in an ambush in Quezon City on Friday night.

According to Philippines News Agency, "The entire Land Transportation Office (LTO) family condemns in the strongest terms the killing of one of our own, Mercedita Gutierrez, in a gun attack in Quezon City on Friday, May 24."

Gutierrez was the chief of the Registration Section of the LTO Central Office in Quezon City. She was gunned down in Barangay Pinyahan around 6:20 p.m. by a motorcycle-riding assailant, according to the police report. Mendoza stated, "This is a cowardly act, and we assure her family and the public of our untiring efforts to coordinate with the Philippine National Police and closely monitor the investigation of this incident to bring all perpetrators of this crime behind bars." He extended his condolences to Gutierrez's loved ones and joined them in seeking justice for this crime. The LTO declined to make further comments regarding the investigation or the possible motive behind the killing.
