Malaysian Parliamentary Delegation Discusses Strategic ASEAN Relations
Bandar Seri Begawan: Strengthening strategic relations between ASEAN nations and supporting the ASEAN Community 2025 vision were key topics during a recent courtesy call by the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of Malaysia to the Speaker of the Legislative Council. The meeting took place at the Dewan Majlis Building and was attended by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib and Yang Berhormat Tan Sri Dato’ Doctor Johari bin Abdul. Discussions also focused on enhancing cooperation under the ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).
According to Radio Television Brunei, the courtesy call is part of Malaysia’s preparations for its role as Chairman of the 46th AIPA, which is set to occur in Kuala Lumpur in September. Doctor Dayang Hajah Huraini binti Pehin Orang Kaya Setia Jaya Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hurairah, who serves as the Clerk to the Privy Council, Secretary to the Cabinet Ministers’ Council, and Clerk to the Legislative Council, was also present at the meeting.
