Malacañang Concert Honors Filipino Healthcare Workers, Showcases National Talent
MANILA – On Sunday night, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos hosted the fourth ‘Konsyerto sa Palasyo’ at the Kalayaan Grounds of Malacañang Palace, dedicating the event to Filipino healthcare workers for their tireless service and sacrifices.
According to Philippines News Agency, the concert titled ‘Konsyerto sa Palasyo: Para sa ating mga Healthcare Workers’ featured a diverse lineup of Filipino artists in singing, dancing, and other art forms. Among the attendees were distinguished Filipino nurses from the United Kingdom—Xyza Macutay-Malloch, Louie Horne, and Charito Leonardo-Romano—all recipients of the British Empire Medal (BEM) for their exemplary service during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Highlighting the evening was Filipino music icon Martin Nievera, who was joined by Douglas Nierras’ Powerdance, ‘The Clash Philippines’ finalist Garrett Bolden, and several other notable performers. In a memorable moment, President Marcos joined Nievera on stage to sing a duet of the hit ‘Be My Lady,’ delighting the audience and the First Lady.
The event also included a video presentation about the “Lab for All” medical trucks initiative, a health and social services program spearheaded by the First Lady, which will see 83 medical trucks distributed across the country’s provinces to enhance healthcare accessibility.
This cultural and celebratory event follows the tradition established by Malacañang, which previously honored soldiers, athletes, and teachers in similar concerts, demonstrating the administration’s ongoing commitment to recognizing various sectors of society.
