Post: LTO Issues Show Cause Order Against Hit-and-Run SUV Driver in Lahug

Cebu City - The Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 (Central Visayas) has issued a show cause order against the driver of an SUV involved in a hit-and-run incident in Lahug. The incident, which took place on November 12 and involved a call center agent, was captured on video and went viral on social media. Glen Galario, director of LTO 7, confirmed the release of the order on Wednesday, directing the driver, identified as William Holan Fernando Baxter from Cabancalan, Mandaue City, to appear before the operations division.

According to Philippines News Agency, the incident occurred on Gorordo Avenue, where Baxter's vehicle, an Isuzu Mu-X with plate number GAB 1021, was seen counterflowing and hitting a 22-year-old call center agent crossing the pedestrian lane. The act violates Section 27 on the improper operation of a motor vehicle and Section 48 on reckless driving under Republic Act 4136, otherwise known as the Land Transportation Code. Galario directed Baxter to surrender his driver's license. Although the driver and the call center agent have settled the matter, as the latter only suffered minor injuries, the LTO still requires Baxter to explain on November 21 why his driver's license should not be suspended or canceled due to the incident.
