Post: Launching Of Competencies Framework and Career Pathway

The Manpower Industry Steering Committee Working Group for Hospitality and Tourism Sector, namely a committee under the Manpower Planning and Employment Council, MPEC marks a new milestone today with the launching of the Competencies Framework and Career Pathway for the Hospitality and Tourism Sector. The newly developed frameworks serve as a comprehensive and detailed guide on 9 job roles in the Hospitality and Tourism Sector, which outlines specific skills and competencies required for each role, as well as the potential career pathways and opportunities for professional development.

Present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy as Chairman of MPEC. In her opening remarks, Dayang Hajah Tutiaty binti Haji Abd Wahab, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism among others said that the competency framework and a pathway open opportunities for reskilling and upskilling to meet market demands in order to stay relevant.

The ceremony ran concurrently with the certificates presentation to 15 students of the Institute of Brunei Technical Education, IBTE and Laksamana College of Business in various hospitality and tourism sectors. 24 tourist guides also received a certificate for completing the language course at Universiti Brunei Darussalam. Also present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism.
