Bandar Seri Begawan: The Judiciary will be introducing guidelines on the use of generative AI for judges and judicial officers. The guidelines will establish general rule and guiding principles on the use of AI in carrying out judicial duties. This was stated by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court at the Opening of the Legal Year 2025 at the Supreme Court, Bandar Seri Begawan. Yang Amat Arif Dato Seri Paduka Steven Chong also emphasised the importance of having the necessary skills and ethical standards to navigate law in the age of AI.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Paduka Dayang Hajah Nor Hashimah binti Haji Mohammed Taib, the Attorney General, in her speech emphasised the importance of ensuring the continued growth and development of the next generation of lawyers, to guarantee the rule of law is upheld for years to come. Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Awang Haji Salim bin Awang Besar, Chief Syarie Judge and Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister's Office for Security and Law.
