Post: Isolated Rains Expected Across the Philippines, Weather Bureau Warns of Flash Floods

MANILA — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) forecasted isolated rain showers across the country for Saturday, with some regions expecting heavier rainfall.

In its early morning bulletin, PAGASA indicated that the northern section of Northern Luzon would be under the influence of a shear line, causing cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms in areas such as Batanes, Cagayan, and the Babuyan Islands. Eastern Visayas and Caraga are also expected to experience similar weather due to the trough of a low-pressure area (LPA). With moderate to heavy rains, flash floods, or landslides are a potential risk. Meanwhile, Metro Manila and other parts of the Philippines are likely to see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with chances of isolated rain showers or thunderstorms, particularly with localized thunderstorms. There are also warnings for possible flash floods or landslides during severe thunderstorms. The weather bureau further reported that Northern Luzon should brace for moderate to strong winds and rough coastal waters, whereas lighter winds with milder seas are forecasted for the rest of the archipelago. Temperatures across key cities have been projected, with Metro Manila experiencing a range from 24°C to 32°C, and Metro Davao expecting temperatures between 25°C to 33°C.
