Bandar Seri Begawan – The International Day of Persons with Disabilities was commemorated on the morning of December 3rd at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in the capital, marked by the launch of the Inclusive Fun Fest. This event, part of the Bandarku Ceria Programme, was organized by the Community Development Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Special Education Department, Ministry of Education and Religious Special Education, Ministry of Religious Affairs, and other strategic partners. The festival aimed to promote the involvement and development of people with disabilities in the community.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the event was inaugurated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Awang Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. Highlights of the festival included the presentation of certificates to trainees from UnikLearn and An-Nuur Harapan who completed the Job Preparation Training and Internship programme 2022/2023.
Additionally, the festival featured a 1.16-kilometer "Fun Walk" with over two hundred participants, including people with disabilities. The event also showcased exhibitions and activities by various organizations such as the Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre PJSC, OKU Associations, non-governmental bodies, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), and Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA), drawing significant attention from visitors.
