Post: Iloilo City Rewards Aliwan Festival Champion with P5 Million Incentive

ILOILO CITY — In recognition of its outstanding performance at the recent Aliwan Fiesta, the Iloilo City government has pledged PHP5 million in projects to Fort San Pedro National High School, whose Tribu Pan-ay won the championship trophy.

According to Philippines News Agency, Mayor Jerry Treñas announced the incentive following a courtesy visit by the school and festival foundation officials. He mentioned that this funding is in addition to a previous commitment of PHP10 million made during the Dinagyang Festival, which Tribu Pan-ay also won. The funds, sourced from the special education fund (SEF), will be allocated pending a project proposal from the school principal Melanie Tabaculde. Mayor Treñas expressed pride in the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc. (IFFI), lauding its efforts in managing the Dinagyang Festival and contributing to local unity and tourism. He credited the foundation for fostering cooperation among different festival tribes and enhancing Iloilo’s cultural visibility. Tribu Pan-ay's victory at Aliwan marks their eighth championship, significantly boosting Iloilo’s tourism profile. A performance for local residents is scheduled, with the date to be announced, allowing the community to experience the award-winning showcase.
