Google Hires Windsurf CEO and Researchers to Advance AI Ambitions
Bandar seri begawan: Google has hired Windsurf CEO Varun Mohan, co-founder Douglas Chen, and select members of the coding tool’s research and development team to join its DeepMind division, a Google spokesperson said on Friday, in a move to strengthen itself in the race for AI leadership. Mohan and the Windsurf team will focus on agentic coding initiatives at Google DeepMind, primarily working on the Gemini project.
According to Radio Television Brunei, this strategic acquisition highlights Google’s commitment to advancing its capabilities in artificial intelligence. By bringing in seasoned professionals from Windsurf, Google DeepMind aims to leverage their expertise in coding and AI development to propel its ongoing projects, particularly the Gemini project, which is expected to play a significant role in the company’s future AI innovations.
