The family of the overseas Filipino worker, Angelyn Aguirre, who lost her life in a Hamas attack in Israel, has begun receiving financial support from both the Philippine and Israeli governments.
According to Philippines News Agency, Aguirre's family is set to receive PHP220,000 in death and burial benefits, in addition to educational and livelihood support from the agency. Aguirre, who died while protecting her elderly ward during the attack on October 7, has been recognized for her bravery.
The Israeli government has also pledged a monthly financial assistance ranging from PHP94,000 to PHP134,000 for the family, with the exact amount pending determination. Ignacio emphasized the commitment to providing job opportunities for Aguirre's siblings and the collective mourning of the government with the family. Further assistance was provided by the provincial government in the form of PHP100,000. As the wake for Aguirre began, her remains, which arrived in Manila on Friday, are set for burial on Sunday due to the advanced stage of decomposition.
