Post: Family of OFW Slain in Israel War Appeals for Swift Repatriation of Remains

Iloilo: The family of Grace Prodigo-Cabrera, an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) from Iloilo who was killed in the Israel-Hamas conflict, is urgently seeking the repatriation of her remains.

According to a news release by Philippine News Agency, The mother of the deceased, Paterna Prodigo, revealed that her other daughter, also working in Israel, Mary June Prodigo, has yet to view the body, which was found in the field of Kibbutz Be'eri. Grace, who was 45, had been employed as a caregiver in Israel for nearly five years. According to Paterna, Grace chose to accompany her elderly ward during the hostilities and went missing for over 10 days before being confirmed dead on Thursday.

OWWA has identified the body through fingerprinting and visited the family in Maasin town. Iloilo Governor Arthur Defensor Jr. stated in a press conference that financial assistance will be given to the bereaved family, and the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) will also extend aid. The province continues to assist OFWs and their families 24/7 through its Operation Bulig (Help) Ilonggo initiative.
