The committee also highlighted the increasing number of elderly people left in hospitals as long-term patients, pointing to a growing need for appropriate care solutions. Efforts to ensure work-life balance, especially for female medical officers, were also deliberated as part of improving the working conditions within the healthcare sector.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), particularly customer satisfaction for the Ministry of Health services and facilities, were discussed. The importance of ensuring that the measurement of customer satisfaction rates accurately reflects the reality of patient experience was underscored. Furthermore, the potential privatisation of non-clinical support services was considered as a means to improve patient safety and service quality.

Lastly, the plan to expand the use of the National Isolation Centre (NIC) as an alternative to existing services was reviewed as part of the ministry’s strategic development.
