Post: DOH Reports Plateau in Nationwide Covid-19 Cases

Manila — The Department of Health (DOH) has reported a plateau in the number of new Covid-19 cases nationwide over the past four weeks.

According to a new release by the Philippines News Agency, "As of Oct. 23, 2023, Covid-19 cases at the national level are plateauing and have not observed marked increases or decreases in reported cases." The agency revealed that the national seven-day moving average for the past four weeks has ranged from 164 to 187 cases per week. The latest data from the DOH's Covid-19 tracker shows that 152 new infections were recorded on Oct. 25, increasing the total number of cases to 4,119,152, with 2,912 active cases. The tally of recovered cases stands at 4,049,506, and the death toll has reached 66,734.

The top regions with the highest case counts are the National Capital Region, Calabarzon, Central Luzon, Western Visayas, and Central Visayas. Among cities or provinces, the most number of cases are recorded in Quezon City, Cavite, Laguna, City of Manila, and Rizal.

The DOH continues to advise the public to maintain preventive measures such as wearing face masks, isolating when symptomatic, and ensuring good airflow, which are effective not only against Covid-19 but also other infectious diseases.
