Kuching: Inclusive leadership is essential in building a more resilient ASEAN that is prepared to face future challenges. Therefore, the full participation of women is a strategic necessity that will drive innovation, inclusiveness, and sustainable progress. The matter was emphasised by Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Safiah binti Sheikh Haji Abdul Salam, Member of the Legislative Council at the Coordinating Committee Meeting of Women Parliamentarians, WAIPA, which was held for three days in Kuching, Sarawak.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Yang Berhormat Dayang Hajah Safiah highlighted that Brunei Darussalam has made significant progress with women constituting 56 percent of the country's workforce, with 65 percent of them in leadership and senior management roles. She attributed this achievement to equitable access to quality education and continuous opportunities. Also present was Yang Berhormat Dayang Chong Chin Yee, Member of the Legislative Council.
Members of the Legislative Council also had the opportunity to exchange views and best practices during the Dialogue Session. The meeting was organised by the Malaysian House of Representatives in support of the WAIPA Committee Meeting at the 46th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly, AIPA, in Kuala Lumpur in September.
