San Beda University Red Lions and College of Saint Benilde Blazers Triumph in NCAA Season 99 First-Round Closer

SAN JUAN – San Beda University clinched a victory over Emilio Aguinaldo College (EAC) with an 86-72 scoreline, finishing second as the first round of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Season 99 men’s basketball came to a close at the Filoil EcoOil Centre on Sunday.

According to a new release by the Philippines News Agency, Jacob Cortez led the Red Lions with 17 points and three assists. Three other players also posted double-digit outputs, propelling the team to their fourth consecutive win and a 7-2 record. Yukien Andrada added 14 points, two assists, and one steal, while Clifford Jopia and Jomel Puno contributed double-doubles. The Red Lions held a comfortable 72-52 lead going into the final quarter. Ralph Robin and King Gurtiza scored 22 and 10 points, respectively, for EAC, which is tied with College of Saint Benilde at 5-4.

In the day’s second game, College of Saint Benilde Blazers overpowered the Letran Knights 68-55, securing their fifth win of the season. Miguel Oczon led the Blazers with 15 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
