Bandar Seri Begawan: The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, in collaboration with the Youth Development Centre, recently organized a bird's eye chillies harvesting ceremony as part of its efforts to promote youth entrepreneurship in agriculture and farming. The event took place on the morning of 24th February, highlighting the ministry's commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs through initiatives like the provision of incubator spaces.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the ceremony saw the participation of Yang Berhormat Awang Lau How Teck, a Member of the Legislative Council. During the event, 2,000 bird's eye chilli trees, planted by the owner of Syarikat Cahaya Agro, were harvested. The owner, a former trainee of the Agrobiz Plus Programme in 2021, exemplifies the initiative's success in fostering agricultural skills among the youth. The event also included activities such as the collection, grading, packaging, and sale of the chilli harvest.
The initiative reflects the Youth Development Centre's dedication to equipping young people with the necessary tools and opportunities to thrive in the agricultural sector. The center continues to encourage entrepreneurial activities by providing crucial support and resources to aspiring young farmers.
