Sta. Rosa — The Chiba Jets thwarted the TNT Tropang Giga's debut on their home court with a decisive 75-66 victory during an East Asia Super League game on Wednesday night at the City of Sta. Rosa Multi-Purpose Sports Complex.
According to Philippines News Agency, Chiba established dominance early in the game, securing a comfortable 18-point lead by halftime. Despite a spirited comeback from TNT in the third quarter, reducing the deficit to just five points, Chiba managed to contain their opponents to a mere 10 points in the final quarter, ensuring their victory.
John Mooney was instrumental in Chiba's triumph, amassing 30 points on a 63.2% shooting performance. His teammate, DJ Stephens, also contributed significantly with 15 points. On the other side, Quincy Miller was a standout for TNT with 22 points — 20 of which came in the second half — and 13 rebounds. However, Miller also accounted for a portion of TNT’s 21 turnovers, a factor that contributed to their defeat.
In other EASL action, Seoul SK revived their campaign with an 82-69 win over Ryukyu at the Goyang Sono Arena in South Korea. Playing on their home turf, the Knights established a lead in the early stages of the game and maintained their advantage throughout, resulting in a tied series at 1-1 in Group B.
Leon Williams led the charge for Seoul SK with a double-double of 23 points and 17 rebounds, despite the absence of the injured Juan Gomez De Liano. Supporting efforts came from Kim Sun-Hyung, Heo Il-Young, and Oh Sek-Eun, who each added 12 points to the team's total. For Ryukyu, Keita Imamura and Carl Tamayo put up a strong fight, contributing across the board in points, rebounds, and assists.
