CAVITEX Segment Continues Toll-Free Service Pending Regulatory Approval

MANILA – Motorists will continue to enjoy toll-free travel on a specific segment of the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEX), as the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB) has not yet authorized the resumption of toll collections, announced the Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA) on Tuesday.

According to Philippines News Agency, while the toll holiday declared by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., which covered all segments of CAVITEX in Parañaque, Las Piñas, Taguig, Bacoor, and Kawit, concluded on July 31, the exemption from toll fees will persist for Segment 2 of the C-5 Link. This decision continues to benefit thousands of commuters traveling between Cavite and Metro Manila. The authority highlighted a significant increase in traffic volume across CAVITEX during the toll-free period, with daily vehicle counts rising from 171,000 to 200,000.

The PRA emphasized the positive impact of the toll holiday on traffic flow and economic activity, noting that the improved infrastructure is expected to enhance travel efficiency, reduce costs, and cut commuting times, thus boosting economic productivity. On June 21, President Marcos inaugurated several new sections of CAVITEX and commended the PRA for implementing the 30-day toll holiday. He stated that this initiative not only alleviated financial pressure on motorists amid rising fuel prices but also helped introduce the newly constructed segments to the public.
