Brunei’s National Day Ceremony Emphasizes Malay Islamic Monarchy Principles
Berakas: In conjunction with Brunei Darussalam’s 41st National Day Celebration, the Ministry of Religious Affairs held a ‘Semarak Hari Kebangsaan’ Ceremony at the International Convention Centre in Berakas on the morning of February 25th. The Ra’es of the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College, KUPU SB, highlighted in his speech the importance of the National Day as a platform for reinforcing self-identity in a country that upholds Malay Islamic Monarchy principles.
According to Radio Television Brunei, Associate Professor Abdul Nasir bin Haji Abdul Rani elaborated that nationalism in Brunei should focus on noble Islamic values. These values are essential in forming a moral, knowledgeable, and high-quality society that continues the legacy of the country’s glory while preserving and defending the purity of Islam. The event was attended by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs.
The ceremony also included a discussion titled “Peranan Sistem Beraja Dalam Mempertahankan Islam; Dari Perspektif Sejarah.” This event was jointly organized by KUPU SB, the Department of Administration, Policy and Strategy Division, the Department of Islamic Studies, and the Syar’ie Prosecution Division of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
