Bandar Seri Begawan: In 2024, Brunei Darussalam's inflation rate recorded a 0.4 per cent decrease compared to 2023.
According to Radio Television Brunei, this was attributed to a 0.6 per cent drop in the Non-Food index, while the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index showed an increase of 0.5 per cent.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) in December 2024 registered a 0.5 per cent decrease compared to December 2023. This was driven by declines in the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index, specifically due to a drop in the Meat category, and the Fish and Seafood category. Meanwhile, the Non-Food index edged lower by 0.3 per cent following a decrease in the Transport category, and the Housing, Water, Electricity, Gas and Other Fuels category.
For the month-on-month comparison, the CPI in December 2024 increased by 0.9 per cent from November 2024. This rise was driven by an increase in both the Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages index and the Non-Food index.
