Brunei Darussalam Braces for Active Weather Conditions Until 27th January
Bandar Seri Begawan: Weather conditions in Brunei Darussalam are forecasted to remain active until Monday, 27th January. Occasional heavy and thundery showers are expected, impacting many coastal and sea areas in the morning and night, as well as inland areas during the afternoon. The public is advised to take precautionary actions in light of the forecasted active weather conditions. Following the thunderstorm on the night of 22nd January, which affected many areas across the country, the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department issued a red weather warning, indicating a high risk.
According to Radio Television Brunei, wind speeds may reach up to 50 kilometres per hour in or near showers, with the sea state generally ranging from slight to moderate, between 0.5 to 1.5 metres. There is a significant risk of flash floods, particularly in low-lying and flood-prone areas, as well as near river banks during continuous heavy rain and high tide. The risk of landslides, fallen trees, and flying roofs is also possible during heavy showers and gusty conditions. The public, road users, and fishermen are advised to stay informed with the latest weather forecasts, advisories, and warnings issued by the Brunei Darussalam Meteorological Department and to take necessary actions to ensure safety.
