Post: BOC-NAIA Seizes PHP1.69 million Worth of Ecstasy Tablets in Pasay

Pasay City, Philippines - The Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) intercepted a shipment containing suspected ecstasy tablets valued at PHP1.69 million. The seizure occurred at the DHL Express Gateway Warehouse in NAIA, Pasay City, as announced by BOC-NAIA District Collector Yasmin Obillos-Mapa on Monday.

According to Philippines News Agency, the inbound express cargo, declared as vitamins, supplements, and body wash products, was intercepted on November 9. Customs officers conducted a 100 percent physical examination after suspicious images were detected during an X-ray scan. The examination led to the discovery of 995 pieces of dark gray and broken ecstasy tablets. Both the shipper and consignee, whose identities remain confidential, are currently under investigation for possible prosecution for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2022 and the Customs Modernization Act. Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio emphasized that this operation showcases the continuous border protection efforts of the BOC in collaboration with law enforcement agencies to prevent the entry of illegal drugs into the country.
