Back to School Marks Start of 2025 Academic Year for Schools Across the Region
BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: The first school term of 2025 commenced on January 2 for government and private primary and secondary schools, colleges, and sixth form centers under the Ministry of Education, as well as religious and Arabic schools under the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Students arrived at their respective institutions early in the morning, eager to embark on a new academic year filled with opportunities for learning and growth.
According to Radio Television Brunei, parents and guardians began dropping off their children at schools as early as 6:30 a.m. At Dato Maha Wangsa Lambak Primary School, the atmosphere was charged with enthusiasm as students prepared to engage in educational activities. The school community had organized several events to mark the beginning of the academic year, including the recitation of Surah Yasin, Tahlil, and Doa Selamat. These religious activities were complemented by icebreaker sessions designed to facilitate interaction between students and teachers.
At Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien College, commonly referred to as SOAS, the first day of school featured a mass Sunat Hajat prayer, along with the reading of Surah Yassin and Tahlil. The day also included a team-building activity, providing students the opportunity to reconnect with peers and faculty after a prolonged holiday break.
These initiatives across various educational institutions highlight the emphasis on a holistic approach to education, integrating both academic and spiritual development as students transition back to school.
