Post: ASEAN Launches Non-Punishment Guideline for Trafficking Victims

Jakarta: The ASEAN Guideline on the Implementation of the Non-Punishment Principle for Protection of Victims of Trafficking in Persons, known as the ASEAN Non-Punishment Guideline, was launched in Jakarta, Republic of Indonesia. This guideline represents a significant step forward in ASEAN’s efforts to protect the rights of trafficking victims and improve counter-trafficking measures across the region.

According to Radio Television Brunei, the delegation from Brunei Darussalam was led by Awang Haji Azree bin Hj Abd Manaf, Assistant Commissioner of Police and Chairman of the Working Committee on Trafficking in Persons. Brunei Darussalam has fully implemented all 15 guidelines outlined in the ASEAN Non-Punishment Guideline, indicating the country’s strong commitment to integrating this principle. Additionally, a discussion session was held to address strategies and implementation of the guideline, as well as to identify potential regional activities for its execution.
