Bandar Seri Begawan: The Minister of Religious Affairs has announced plans to introduce a new category for certified applications and to make the status of premises' halal certificates available both online and physically. This development comes in response to a query by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Salleh Bostaman bin Haji Zainal Abidin.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the current process of issuing new certificates and renewing halal certificates is considered time-consuming. The existing Client's Charter, TPOR, stipulates a processing time of 45 days. Additionally, applicants for halal certificates are required to include verification conducted by a Muslim supervisor.
The introduction of a new category for certified applications aims to streamline the process and potentially reduce the time needed for issuance and renewal of halal certificates. The move to publish the status of these certificates online or physically is expected to enhance transparency and accessibility for applicants and stakeholders involved.
This initiative reflects the Ministry's commitment to improving efficiency and ensuring that halal certification processes meet the needs of applicants while adhering to religious and procedural standards.
