San Jose de Buenavista - The provincial government of Antique is set to inaugurate PHP40 million worth of projects in insurgency-cleared barangays of San Remigio and Sibalom towns. The turnover ceremony will take place on Thursday, marking a significant investment in local development.
According to Philippines News Agency, a consultant for Peace and Order and Public Safety (POPS) at the provincial government, the projects were funded under the Barangay Development Program (BDP) of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC). Each of the barangays, Cabladan in Sibalom and Bulan-bulan in San Remigio, received an allocation of PHP20 million for their priority projects, which began implementation in December 2021. Cabladan's projects include the construction of a farm-to-market road, electrification, school buildings, and a water system. San Remigio utilized its funds for a road connecting Barangay Aningalan to Barangay Bulan-bulan. Post-turnover, the maintenance of these projects will be the responsibility of the barangays. Gadian expressed hope that the communities will take care of the projects, as they address the priority needs of the people and bring government services closer to them.
