As challenges grow multi-fold, it is crucial that we reiterate the steadfast commitment towards strengthening the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting, ADMM’s defence cooperation towards ensuring the peace, prosperity and stability of this region. This was stressed during the “A Future-Ready ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting, ADMM: A Strategy Paper” Workshop yesterday morning. The 2-day workshop started yesterday, at a hotel in Gadong.
Retired Colonel Norsuriati binti Haji Sharbini, Permanent Secretary for Policy, Finance and Administration at the Ministry of Defence, in her capacity as the Brunei Darussalam ADSOM Leader in her speech while inaugurating the workshop also said Brunei Darussalam strongly felt the need for us to look towards the future of the ADMM, to ensure that that the ADMM is ready, resilient and adaptable, whilst still ensuring the defence sector’s continued support for the wider ASEAN Community in facing challenges ahead. The workshop is chaired by Haji Adi Ihram bin Dato Paduka Haji Mahmud, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Policy and Strategy at the Ministry of Defence, in his capacity as Brunei Darussalam ASEAN Defence Senior Officials’ Meeting Working Group, ADSOM WG Leader. During the workshop, delegates will discuss on the future of the ADMM through recommendations on the way forward for the platform in support of the ASEAN Community’s Post-2025 Vision.
