Village Head Elections Held in Brunei Muara District
Brunei Muara District – The Voting and Selection for the Village Head candidate for Kampung Bunut Perpindahan, Mukim Kilanas, took place on the morning of 12th November at Bendahara Sakam Primary School, Bunut, Mukim Kilanas.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the sole candidate for the position, 41-year-old Awang Mohammad Khairoul bin Haji Jumat, received 226 votes in favor. Members of the Legislative Council were present at the event to oversee the process.
In a parallel development, a similar selection event occurred at the compound of Jubli Perak Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mosque in Kampung Jangsak. The sole candidate there was 33-year-old Awang Muhammad Mu’izwan bin Kamran. The outcomes of these village head elections will be presented to the Board of Appointment, Discipline, and Procedures for the Mukim Penghulu and Village Head at the Ministry of Home Affairs for further processing. Members of the Legislative Council were also in attendance at this event, underscoring the importance of community leadership in the governance of Brunei Darussalam.
