Post: Vietnam Appoints To Lam as President, Tran Thanh Man as Head of Parliament

HANOI, Vietnam — Vietnam has named To Lam, the Minister for Public Security, as the new state president, as announced by the country's Communist Party this Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, during the closing session of the 9th plenum, the party's central committee also appointed Tran Thanh Man, the standing Vice-Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly, as the new head of parliament. This leadership reshuffle follows the mid-March appointment of then-Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan as acting president after Vo Van Thuong resigned from the presidency for allegedly violating party rules.
