Bandar Seri Begawan: As of December 2024, 122,877 Unified Smart Metering Systems (USMS) have been installed across the nation. The USMS platform integrates the digitalization of electricity and water supply services into a single module. Users can now access services online via the USMS website and mobile application.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the system allows users to monitor their electricity and water usage and receive SMS notifications for low credit. Credit purchases can be made through various payment methods, and outstanding bill payments can be managed automatically. Some users have shared their experiences with the USMS.
The USMS initiative aims to contribute to the goals of Wawasan Brunei 2035 by enhancing the efficiency of electricity and water supply management for users. This project is a collaboration between the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Department of Electricity Services, the Department of Water Services, and government-related companies such as Berakas Power Company and DST Network Private Berhad.
