Post: UN Reports Over 50,000 Palestinian Children in Gaza Need Acute Malnutrition Treatment

GAZA STRIP — The UN Agency for Palestinian Refugees (UNRWA) has issued a dire report indicating that over 50,000 children in the Gaza Strip require urgent treatment for acute malnutrition due to ongoing humanitarian restrictions and severe resource shortages.

According to Philippines News Agency, the escalating crisis is compounded by continuous limits on humanitarian access, severely impacting the availability of essential supplies like food, clean water, and medicine. "With continued restrictions to humanitarian access, people in Gaza continue to face desperate levels of hunger," stated UNRWA in its recent announcement.

The agency further reported that its teams are working relentlessly to deliver aid to affected families amidst what it describes as catastrophic conditions. The situation in Gaza has been exacerbated by nearly eight months of conflict, resulting in substantial destruction and a critical blockade that impedes recovery efforts.

Local health authorities have reported nearly 37,300 fatalities in Gaza since October of the previous year, with the majority being women and children, alongside almost 85,200 injuries. The extensive damage across Gaza highlights the urgent need for increased international intervention and support to address both the humanitarian and nutritional crises facing the population.
