Two Indonesian nationals have been charged and sentenced under the Immigration Act, Chapter 17 by the Department of Immigration and National Registration in Brunei for overstaying after their immigration passes expired.
According to Radio Television Brunei, A 37-year-old woman, Ina Suama, was fined $1,000 and sentenced to 4 months imprisonment, with an additional five months in default. Meanwhile, a 27-year-old man, Muhammad Rizal Irfanudin, received a sentence of 4 months imprisonment along with 3 strokes of whipping.
These sentences reflect the strict enforcement of immigration laws in Brunei and serve as a reminder of the consequences of violating these regulations.
