Bandar seri begawan: The Tourism Development Department under the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism has reiterated its role as the regulator for Travel Agents in Brunei Darussalam, as stipulated in the Tourism Act, Chapter 239. It has been clarified that any company or individual conducting travel agent activities without a valid license is committing an offence under Section 11(1) of the mentioned act. According to Radio Television Brunei, the penalties for operating without a license include a fine of up to BND10,000, imprisonment for up to two years, or both. For repeat offences, a fine of BND100 per day may be imposed. Companies intending to engage in travel agent activities must secure a license from the Tourism Development Department. Furthermore, licensed companies wishing to offer Haj or Umrah services must obtain additional permits from the Department of Haj Management within the Ministry of Religious Affairs. Additionally, the Tourism Development Department has provided a list of the late st licensed Travel Agents, which the public can access on the department's website.
