State Visit

His Excellency Thongloun Sisoulith, the President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Madam Naly Sisoulith and delegation arrived in Bandar Seri Begawan this afternoon for a three-day State Visit to Brunei Darussalam. During the State Visit, His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and Her Majesty Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Pemancha Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam are expected to receive in audience His Excellency the President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and spouse as well as delegation. This includes a State Welcoming Ceremony; a Bilateral Meeting; a Signing Ceremony of Memoranda of Understanding; and a State Banquet that will be held Istana Nurul Iman, 25th October.

 

The State Visit is His Excellency’s first visit to Brunei Darussalam as President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.

 

Diplomatic relations between Brunei Darussalam and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic were established on 27th July 1993, in which both countries cooperate extensively in the areas of education, defence, culture, youth and sports as well as food security.

 

Present at Brunei International Airport to welcome His Excellency the President of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and spouse on arrival were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister Of Home Affairs as the Minister-in-Attendance, and spouse; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd Yusof, Second Minister Of Foreign Affairs and spouse; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister Of Primary Resources And Tourism and Spouse; as well as Her Excellency Sengdavanh Vongsay, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Brunei Darussalam.
