SAN JUAN CITY — In a decisive NCAA Season 99 men's basketball game at Filoil EcoOil Centre on Saturday, the College of St. Benilde Generals defeated Arellano University Chiefs with a score of 74-56, marking their fourth consecutive win.
According to Philippines News Agency, Will Gozum led the Generals with a strong performance of 17 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks. This win positions St. Benilde alongside Jose Rizal University Heavy Bombers in second place with an 8-4 record, trailing behind the leaders Mapua and Lyceum, both at 9-3. The victory also leaves San Beda University in third place at 7-4, followed by Emilio Aguinaldo College at 7-5, and other universities in subsequent rankings.
CSB coach Charles Tiu highlighted the improved play of Will Gozum and the team’s defensive solidity. Contributions also came from Miguel Oczon and Miguel Corteza, adding to the team's robust performance. Meanwhile, Arellano's Lorenz Capulong put up 18 points and 12 rebounds, with Danielle Mallari contributing 11 points, yet these efforts were not enough to prevent their 10th loss of the season.
