Post: Scattered rain showers to prevail over Western Luzon

The western section of Luzon will continue to experience scattered rain showers and thunderstorms on Friday due to the southwest monsoon or habagat, the weather bureau said. In its 4 a.m. weather update, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said scattered rain showers and thunderstorms will prevail over Zambales, Bataan, Occidental Mindoro, Romblon, and the northern portion of Palawan. These areas may experience flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains, it said. Isolated rain showers caused by localized thunderstorms will prevail over Metro Manila and the rest of the country, PAGASA said, noting that severe thunderstorms may also result in flash floods or landslides. Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas will continue to prevail across the archipelago, the bureau said. Meanwhile, PAGASA weather specialist Benison Estareja said the cloud cluster they have been monitoring is "slowly getting near the landmass." "It has a slim chance of developing into a low-pressure area and it could possibly dissipate in the next 24 hours," he said. Another cloud cluster was seen far from Mindanao and this may affect the weather early next week. No tropical cyclone is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility until the first few days of July, he said.
