Bandar Seri Begawan: The Korban or Rites of Sacrifice, a significant act of worship in Islam, took place during Hari Raya Aidiladha and Tasyriq days, with various organizations participating in the ceremonies. The Former Residents of Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien College, Ex HBG, conducted a Korban ceremony in Kampung Tanjung Nangka, sacrificing 3 buffaloes and distributing the meat to 21 recipients among the poor and destitute. Yang Berhormat Doctor Awang Haji Mahali bin Haji Momin, Member of the Legislative Council, was among the Ex-HBG members participating in the event, marking the eighth time the group has held such a ceremony.
According to Radio Television Brunei, another distribution of sacrificial and aqiqah meat was organized at An-Naim Mosque, Kampung Panchor Mengkubau, in conjunction with Aidiladha. Six buffaloes were sacrificed, and Awang Haji Mislee bin Haji Abdul Karim, Acting Deputy Permanent Secretary for Administration and Finance at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, distributed the meat to 36 recipients and 100 asnaf from various zones in the village.
The Takmir Committee of Serdang Mosque also participated in the Korban ceremony, where 4 buffaloes were sacrificed. The sacrificial meat was distributed to 30 recipients from Kampung Sungai Belukut, Kampung Serdang, and Kampung Sungai Matan by Pengiran Muhammad Ameer Mubarak bin Pengiran Haji Hashim, Acting Brunei Muara District Officer.
In another event, the ‘Melayu Kedayan’ Association or PEMEDAYAN, in collaboration with the Zone Two Mukim Consultative Council in Temburong District, held a ceremony at Mukim Bokok Community Hall in Kampung Rataie. The meat was distributed to 38 selected asnaf by Awang Hassan Baha bin Haji Umar, Acting Temburong District Officer.
