RTU, De La Salle, and PhilSCA Dominate at ROTC Games Luzon Leg

INDANG, CAVITE – Rizal Technological University-Mandaluyong, De La Salle University-Manila, and Philippine State College of Aeronautics emerged as the top performers in their respective divisions at the Philippine Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) Games Luzon leg, held in Indang, Cavite, on Saturday.

According to Philippines News Agency, Rizal Technological University-Mandaluyong led the Philippine Army division by securing an impressive tally of 42 gold, 18 silver, and seven bronze medals. Their standout performance was largely fueled by victories in arnis, taekwondo, boxing, athletics, and swimming. Alvin Marticion was particularly notable, earning six gold medals in various swimming events at the De La Salle University-DasmariƱas pool. The University of Baguio and the Polytechnic University of the Philippines followed, finishing second and third respectively.

In the Philippine Navy division, De La Salle University-Manila took the lead with 27 gold medals, supported by strong performances from swimmers Kirk Dominique Reyes and Janelle Kyla Chua, who each claimed five golds. The Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific and the Philippine Merchant Marine Academy rounded out the top three in this division.

Philippine State College of Aeronautics dominated the Philippine Air Force division, collecting 22 golds along with 17 silvers and 12 bronzes. Their closest competitors were their own branch campus, Philippine State College of Aeronautics-FAB, and Fullbright College.

Senator Francis Tolentino, honorary chairperson of the executive organizing committee, highlighted the significance of the ROTC Games Luzon leg as the primary qualifying event for the national finals. The top performers in the Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao legs are set to advance to these finals, scheduled to take place from August 18 to 24 in Indang.

The tournament, which saw participation from 77 colleges and universities across Luzon, was supported by the Department of National Defense, the Commission on Higher Education, and the Philippine Sports Commission, underscoring its importance in fostering physical fitness and discipline among students.
