Bandar seri begawan: The Religious Ceremony While Waiting For the Result of the Moon Sighting for Zulhijjah 1447 Hijrah took place on 17th May late afternoon. The Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB) convened after the sighting of the new moon of Zulhijjah.
According to Radio Television Brunei, the event was attended by several high-ranking officials, including Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and Yang Di-Pertua of MUIB. Also present were Yang Berhormat Pehin Datu Lailaraja Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Defence; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism; and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid, Minister of Development.
The ceremony included Al-Qur'an reading, a short talk, and concluded with the mass fardhu Maghrib prayer.
