Manila: The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) has transformed Camp Karingal into the police force's inaugural "green camp" in a significant move towards environmental sustainability. According to Brig. Gen. Redrico Maranan, QCPD director, the initiative, dubbed "Project Green Camp Karingal," aligns with both national and local government efforts to conserve and protect the environment. The project entails allocating "green time" for officers to engage in agricultural activities within the camp premises and deploying "green cops" to enforce environmental laws. These measures, which include reducing plastic waste and conserving water, were praised by Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte for their comprehensiveness and alignment with best practices for environmental care and sustainability. This initiative marks a pioneering step in integrating environmental conservation efforts within the Philippine National Police framework.
