President Marcos’ Policies Align with Mindanao Development Goals, Says MinDA Chief
MANILA — Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) Secretary Leo Tereso Magno stated that President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s policies and vision are in harmony with Mindanao’s goals for sustainable development. This announcement followed the President’s third State of the Nation Address (SONA), which highlighted key areas such as infrastructure, economic recovery, and social services.
According to Philippines News Agency, the initiatives outlined by President Marcos, particularly in agriculture and local industry support, are crucial for the empowerment of Mindanao’s farmers and entrepreneurs. These sectors are seen as foundational for spreading the benefits of economic progress to remote areas, aligning with MinDA’s mission to boost local development.
The President’s commitment extends to enhancing connectivity and public services, aiming for inclusive growth across Mindanao. Highlighted projects like the MalMar Irrigation System, the Panguil Bay Bridge, and the Guicam Bridge Project are expected to significantly improve regional connectivity and stimulate economic activity.
Magno emphasized that these infrastructure projects are more than just physical developments; they are critical to integrating communities, opening market access, and improving the overall quality of life for the people of Mindanao. He expressed eagerness to collaborate closely with the national government to bring these plans to fruition.
Additionally, Magno commended the President’s recent decision to ban Philippine offshore gaming operators (POGOs), viewing it as a move to protect the country’s moral and social standards. MinDA is prepared to assist in implementing these policies, aiming to realize a vision that benefits all Filipinos.
