The President firmly stated that Duterte does not deserve to be removed from office and emphasized the importance of safeguarding her position.
According to Philippines News Agency, the administration is closely monitoring the situation to prevent any impeachment proceedings against the Vice President. He made these remarks during the Kapihan with the Media in Hawaii, underscoring that calls for impeachment of high-ranking officials are not uncommon and often stem from groups wanting to alter election results. The President dismissed the notion of any division within their Uniteam, asserting that the alliance is growing stronger and more unified.
President Marcos also noted recent political developments within the Uniteam, challenging the claims about impeachment and disunity. On a personal level, he praised Duterte's performance in the Department of Education and affirmed their excellent working relationship.
Vice President Duterte, addressing the impeachment rumors, confirmed that President Marcos had reassured her of his trust before his departure to the United States. During a press briefing at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, she expressed confidence in retaining the President's trust and dismissed the idea of her aspiring for the presidency. Duterte reiterated her earlier statements that she had no initial ambition to run for vice president, let alone the presidency. She emphasized that while people can make plans, it is ultimately God's plan that prevails.
Duterte's statement came after her participation in the World Children's Day celebration in Quezon City, where she maintained that her relationship with President Marcos remains strong and based on mutual trust.
