President Marcos Declares August 15 as Special Non-Working Day in Bulacan
BULACAN — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has designated August 15, 2024, as a special non-working day in Bulacan to mark the province’s founding anniversary, allowing residents to fully participate in the celebrations.
According to Philippines News Agency, the proclamation signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin on July 5 and posted on the Official Gazette’s website on Monday, this decision was made to give the people of Bulacan a full opportunity to enjoy the historical commemoration of their province’s establishment on August 15, 1578. Bulacan is recognized for its growing industrial sector due to its close proximity to Metro Manila and is also a site of profound historical importance. It is the location of the Barasoain Church in Malolos City, where the first Philippine Republic, also known as the Malolos Republic, was proclaimed in 1899.
