President Marcos Announces PHP27 Billion in Agricultural Infrastructure for Northern Mindanao

TUBOD, LANAO DEL NORTE — President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. announced on Friday a comprehensive PHP27 billion initiative to enhance agricultural productivity in Northern Mindanao through the construction of over 400 infrastructure projects.

According to Philippines News Agency, speaking at the Mindanao Civic Center Gymnasium during a land title distribution event, the planned projects, managed by the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), will include the development of farm-to-market roads, irrigation facilities, and potable water systems across Region 10. This ambitious program builds on the momentum of 21 projects already underway in Bukidnon and Camiguin, aiming to significantly boost the region’s agricultural infrastructure.

President Marcos emphasized that these efforts are part of a broader commitment to improve the livelihoods of farmers, ensuring they live with dignity and contribute effectively to national food security. He reassured that the government would continue to strengthen policies that support the agricultural sector across the Philippines.

During the event, the President also facilitated the distribution of agricultural machinery and equipment worth PHP2.6 million to seven agrarian reform beneficiary organizations, benefiting 200 farmers in Lanao del Norte. Additionally, 2,566 land titles were handed over to 2,857 agrarian reform beneficiaries from various provinces within the region, covering about 3,000 hectares.

In conjunction with the local celebrations for Lanao del Norte’s 65th anniversary, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) distributed PHP10,000 in cash assistance each to approximately 1,760 agrarian reform beneficiaries through the Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP). This event also saw 6,745 local beneficiaries receiving the same amount of cash aid in honor of the “Araw ng Lanao'” festivities.
