Sorsogon City, Philippines - The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) has expressed a positive outlook on the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing and advancing the accounting profession.
According to Philippines News Agency, PICPA National President Randy Blanza, speaking at a press conference at the Villa Isabel Hotel, highlighted the institute's proactive approach to integrating AI into their practices. The focus is on elevating the skills of CPAs in the Philippines to surpass the capabilities of computers. According to Blanza, PICPA is committed to adapting to technological advancements through various technical sessions and training. This initiative aims to ensure that CPAs remain integral to the nation's development. Emphasizing the continued relevance of CPAs, he stated that the profession is vital and irreplaceable despite technological advancements. The 78th Annual National Convention of PICPA, held in Sorsogon province and attended by approximately 3,500 certified public accountants, revolves around the theme 'Redefining the Roles of Certified Public Accountants.' The convention aims to showcase Sorsogon's potential and natural beauty while focusing on the evolving roles of CPAs across sectors such as government relations, commerce and industry, academia, and public accountancy. Blanza underscored the importance of staying abreast of AI, sustainability, and quality assurance to maintain the profession's relevance and contribution to societal progress.
