Philippines Introduces Cruise Visa Waiver to Boost Tourism


MANILA — The Department of Justice (DOJ) has announced the implementation of a new Cruise Visa Waiver Program, designed by the Bureau of Immigration (BI), aimed at enhancing the tourism sector by simplifying visa processes for cruise ship visitors.



According to Philippines News Agency, the program, established under Immigration Memorandum Circular No. 2024-001, which he approved on March 14, 2024, is expected to play a crucial role in boosting tourism in the Philippines. The initiative aims to provide a more accessible, secure, and efficient entry process for cruise tourists, contributing to the country’s goals of becoming a top destination for international travelers.



The program’s launch was a collaborative effort between the DOJ, the BI, and the Department of Tourism (DOT), taking place at the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Authority (TIEZA) in Pasay City on July 16. Remulla emphasized the role of the justice system in supporting economic growth through flexible and accessible policies. He expressed confidence that this initiative would not only elevate the Philippines as a premier cruise destination but also as a leading global tourist destination.
