Post: Philippine National Police Mourns Loss of Former Chief Gen. Camilo Cascolan

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is mourning the death of its former chief, retired Gen. Camilo Pancratius Pascua Cascolan, who passed away on Friday. The PNP expressed its sorrow and paid tribute to Gen. Cascolan's legacy and contributions to the organization and the country.

According to Philippines News Agency, the organization extends its deepest condolences to Gen. Cascolan's family and friends. In the statement, the PNP recognized Gen. Cascolan as a distinguished leader whose values and commitment to excellence have significantly influenced the police force. The PNP emphasized honoring his legacy by continuing to uphold the values he championed.

Gen. Cascolan's passing was announced by his son Jiro on Facebook. In his post, Jiro Cascolan shared that his father passed away peacefully on the afternoon of November 24, 2023, at 5:28 pm, surrounded by his loving family. He remembered his father as a dedicated servant who committed 42 years of his life to serving and protecting the country. The family, however, did not disclose the cause of death.

The PNP lauded Gen. Cascolan for his outstanding leadership and impact on the police organization. He was celebrated for his dedication to service, integrity, and professionalism. During his tenure as the PNP chief, Gen. Cascolan was known for his strategic vision and commitment to public safety, which earned him the respect of his colleagues and contributed to the advancement of the PNP's mission.

Gen. Cascolan served as the 24th top cop of the country under the Duterte administration and was later appointed as undersecretary at the Office of the President in February 2021. The PNP, in its statement, extended its support to the bereaved family and the PNP community during this period of grief.

Gen. Cascolan was a member of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Sinagtala class of 1986, alongside other former PNP chiefs like Ronald 'Bato' dela Rosa and Oscar Albayalde. Throughout his career, he held various key positions within the PNP, including the director of the PNP Civil Security Group and chief of the PNP Directorial Staff. He also served as the director of the National Capital Region Police Office in 2018.

The PNP concluded its statement by expressing hope that Gen. Cascolan's memory would inspire current and future members to emulate his dedication and fortitude in ensuring the safety and security of Filipinos.
