MANILA — Philippine Airlines (PAL) has announced the rerouting of its flights from Pagadian to Dipolog starting April 15 until May 15 due to scheduled maintenance and rehabilitation work on the Pagadian Airport runway. During this period, the airport will be closed to facilitate these necessary upgrades.
According to Philippines News Agency, Dipolog will temporarily serve as the alternate gateway for travelers affected by the closure. The new schedule includes flights from Manila to Dipolog and vice versa, operating on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 11:20 am and 03:10 pm respectively, with additional flights on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday at the same morning time but returning earlier in the afternoon at 1:55 pm. The airline also noted that passengers affected by these changes would be allowed to reroute their flights subject to availability within 60 days from their original schedule.
ANTIQUE — The provincial government of Antique has allocated PHP 52.9 million to support 8,821 underprivileged college and post-graduate students in their educational needs. This initiative is aimed at easing the financial burden on students from low-income families, ensuring they have access to quality education.According to Philippines News Agency, head of the Antique Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO), the financial aid program began disbursing funds on February 2, with each qualifying student receiving PHP 6,000. This assistance is intended for the purchase of school materials and other academic necessities for the current school year. Manlapaz revealed that a significant number of beneficiaries, totaling 3,809, received their assistance recently on March 16 and 18.
Furthermore, the provincial government has plans to extend additional financial support by June, with 11,018 more students identified as eligible for the program this school year. Notably, the amount of educational aid has been adjusted to PHP 6,000 per student for the entire school year, in response to the increasing number of applicants, compared to the previous PHP 5,000 per semester for college students.
To qualify for this assistance, students must present a certificate of indigency from their barangay captain alongside their registration form and other required documents. The PYDO team, operating under the "PYDO on Wheels" initiative, travels to all 18 municipalities within the province, distributing the educational aid according to a predetermined schedule.
The educational assistance program was established by Governor Rhodora J. Cadiao, who is committed to providing indigent families with opportunities for higher education. Governor Cadiao champions education as a pivotal tool for the economic development and upliftment of Antique.
