Manila – Presidential Adviser for Creative Communications, Paul Soriano, has resigned from his position, as confirmed by Malacañang on Thursday. Soriano's decision to step down is attributed to his desire to focus on personal commitments, as detailed in a statement by Communication Secretary Cheloy Garafil. The statement was released to Palace reporters on Thursday night.
According to Philippines News Agency, Soriano's resignation is centered around his need to dedicate time to his family and newborn daughter. Garafil's statement highlighted that Soriano sought a break to attend to these personal matters. President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., who has worked closely with Soriano since his vice-governorship campaign, has not yet announced a successor for this advisory role. Garafil emphasized the absence of a current replacement for the Presidential Adviser on Creative Communications.
Soriano was appointed as the adviser for creative communications in October of the previous year. His responsibilities included advising the President and supporting various departments and agencies in enhancing their information dissemination programs. Notably, Soriano has been a significant figure in Marcos' political journey, contributing to campaign advertisements and electoral efforts, alongside his wife, actress and TV host Toni Gonzaga.
In related news, President Marcos has appointed Rodolfo G. del Rosario Jr. as the chairperson of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), as announced by the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) via a Facebook post. Del Rosario will also serve as a member of the GSIS Board of Trustees. Jocelyn D. Cabreza joins him on the board, representing the banking, finance, investment, and insurance sectors.
The PCO clarified in a separate statement that Del Rosario was not previously affiliated with the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth). His background includes leadership roles in Century Rural Bank Inc. and ANFLOCOR. Del Rosario's educational credentials include a Bachelor's degree in Management and Economics from Richmond University and a Master's in Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management. His experience spans across anti-money laundering, corporate governance, risk management, and microfinance.
